  • Where it was?

  • What it was like?

  • What did you learn there?

  • How did you feel about it?

I studied in one school from LKG to class 10. The name of the school is St. Joseph’s Convent School. It is on the Main Road in Phagwara. It is a beautiful school. I have very fond memories of the time I spent there. It has many rooms. There is a separate wing for the primary classes. It has a library, a computer lab, science labs, a canteen, two big playgrounds and a beautiful lawn full of flowering plants. This school is affiliated to the ICSE Board.

Ending lines- A school you went to in your childhood cue card apart from getting an academic education, we had a lot of extracurricular activities. I was part of a dance club. Every year we had an annual function. Two months before that we used to start preparing some dance items. We used to do that in the zero periods. We also played badminton and cricket in the after school hours. Our school principal was very strict.

We were given punishment if we were not in proper uniform or when we didn’t do our homework. I remember, once I got the punishment for not bringing my homework notebook. I was very ashamed of myself. Now when I think back, I feel those were the best days of my life. I have many friends from my school time, with whom I am still in touch.

Describe a school that you went to when you were a child.

You should say

where the school was?

when you went there?

what the school and the teachers were like?

and explain whether you enjoyed your time there.

I’m going to talk about my primary school. The school was called Xavier Convent School and it was in the town of Shimla. The location of the school was great because it was within walking distance of our family home at the time. The route to school was all downhill! which made it an easy walk in the morning! but a tiring “journey on the way home in the afternoon.
I was a pupil at this school between the ages of 4 and 11 the full 7 years of primary education. from age  11 onwards! I went to a nearby secondary school.
My primary school seemed like a big place at the time! but it was actually quite small school! with only six classes. I remember there being a large room called the assembly hall! where the whole school gathered every morning to hear messages from the headmaster. I also remember spending a lot of time on the playground and on the sports field. I liked all of my teachers- they were caring but strict at the same time! and I think they fostered a positive and fun atmosphere in the school.
I have really fond memories of my primary school years! mainly because of the friends I made and the fun I had. One of my most, vivid memories is of performing in the school play in my final year. I had to learn lines and play the part of a character in a traditional children’s story. It was a nerve-racking experience! but it felt like my first real achievement.

Follow-ups ( A school you went to in your childhood cue card)

  1. What’s the difference between the present and the past teachers?

In the past, teaching was a noble profession and teachers were respected a lot. Today, teachers have lost that status. This is mainly because teaching has become a business and the student is the customer. Another reason why teachers are not that respected is that today, we have many other sources of knowledge apart from the teachers

extracurricular- पाठ्येतर

Model Answer

Today, I’m going to tell you about my secondary school, which was the place I spent nearly four years during my childhood.

To the best of my recollection, my school was located right in the middle of my hometown, and was within walking distance from my house. That’s why it only took me about 10 minutes to walk to school every single day. I don’t remember exactly but this school was built when I was in fourth or fifth grade. Back in the days when I was still studying at primary school, this school had always been my dream school because it looked incredibly beautiful. All the walls were painted in multiple bright colors, which really made it stand out from the surrounding buildings. I guess the main purpose of doing this was to create a sense of enjoyment for students to go to school every day.

Looking at the school from the outside, we could see a very big white gate at the front with the school’s name above it. Near this gate, there was a parking area where students and teachers left their vehicles before entering the building. There was a library, a computer lab, a canteen and two big playgrounds full of flowering plants. The school building itself was enormous so it could easily be seen from quite a distance.

Inside, the first thing I noticed about this place was that it was well-equipped with a range of modern facilities, including an air conditioning system and a number of tables made of high-quality wood.

For me, secondary school was a place full of beautiful childhood memories. I will definitely pay a visit to it when I have a chance to go back to my hometown.
